Craving for chocolate is very common, especially for women, we generally crave foods due to external prompts and our emotional state, rather than actual hunger.
In many women, craving occurs on a monthly cycle, which suggests a hormonal basis.
Chocolate contains several biologically active ingredients, which can cause abnormal behaviors and psychological sensations like those of other addictive substances. Although researchers believe that chocolate "addiction" is not a true addiction but chocolate does contain potentially mood-altering substances which are found in higher concentrations in other less appealing foods such as broccoli.
With the modern living these days, women restrain themselves in in taking high calorie food and the attempt to restrain themselves before they are satisfied increases the desire for chocolate.
Instead of feeling stressed by restricting yourself for the desire for chocolate, try to incorporate small portion of chocolate into your usual diet. Eating appropriate portions of dark chocolate is also nutritious and delicious. The amount of cocoa in dark chocolate are an excellent source of protein, fibre, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and also contains good types of fats.
